16 Students Injured in Gallery Collapse at Kerala College
Sixteen students were injured when a temporary gallery collapsed during a programme at a private college in Kottayam on Friday. The event was organized to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. According to police, the makeshift structure gave way as students gathered to watch the proceedings. The injured, including members of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS), were rushed to nearby hospitals. Most students sustained minor injuries, while a few suffered fractures. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, examining whether safety norms were followed in setting up the temporary seating. College officials have assured full medical support to the injured and cooperation with the probe. The district administration has also directed educational institutions to review safety measures during public functions.
