5.5 Lakh Polling Staff to be Deployed in Bihar Assembly Elections

Bihar Assembly elections polling staff at training session

Nearly 5.5 lakh polling staff will take charge in the Bihar Assembly elections. Over 90,000 polling stations will be set up across the state. Each station will have a Presiding Officer and three polling officers. Along with them, micro-observers, sector magistrates, and reserve staff will also join duty.

District Magistrates are preparing staff lists as per requirements. These lists will be finalized by the end of September. Once the Election Commission announces the schedule, training sessions will begin at the district level.

The training will be done in three phases. It will cover operating EVMs and VVPATs, managing election materials, and record keeping. Master trainers at the state headquarters will guide officials, who will then train the polling personnel.

In the last election, Bihar had 78,000 polling stations. This time, the number has increased to 90,712. Each booth will serve a maximum of 1,200 voters. With more voters and booths, more polling staff are required.

Government offices and departments are preparing their staff lists for election duty. Central forces will also be deployed to ensure smooth and secure polling.
