50 Sabarimala Pilgrims Injured as Bus Overturns in Idukki

A group of 50 Sabarimala pilgrims from Tamil Nadu sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned in Kerala’s Idukki district. The accident occurred on the stretch between Kuttikkanam and Valanjakanam, a hilly route known for sharp curves and heavy traffic during the pilgrimage season.
According to officials, the condition of one passenger is critical, while all others suffered minor injuries. Emergency teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The pilgrims, all from Dindigul, were on their way to Sabarimala when the accident happened. Police have begun a preliminary investigation, with early reports suggesting that slippery road conditions may have contributed to the mishap.
Authorities have urged drivers to exercise extra caution on ghat roads, especially during the peak Mandala-Makaravilakku season, when thousands of devotees travel to the hill shrine, increasing pressure on narrow mountain routes.
