674 child labourers rescued in Malkajgiri during Operation Smile-XII

In a major crackdown on child labour, 674 children were rescued and 189 people arrested during the month-long Operation Smile-XII in Malkajgiri, Hyderabad. The operation was carried out by the Telangana Police along with local authorities to identify and stop illegal child labour practices.

Officials said the rescued children were found working in various sectors, including domestic work, small factories, and roadside shops. They were immediately sent to rehabilitation centres where they will receive education, food, and medical care.

The arrested individuals include employers and traffickers who were exploiting children for labour. Police said strict legal action will be taken against them under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.

Authorities also appealed to the public to report any cases of child labour and help ensure that children are allowed to study and enjoy their childhood. Operations like Smile-XII aim to make Telangana free of child exploitation and provide a safer environment for children.
