The 69th Punjab State Inter-District School Circle Kabaddi Championship for Under-14 boys and girls began on Tuesday at Bazidpur, Ferozepur. Students from across Punjab gathered to showcase their skills and promote sportsmanship. The event runs until November 29.
District Education Officer (Secondary) Munila Arora inaugurated the championship. National Awardee Dr. Satinder Singh, Deputy District Education Officer, and School Chairman Darshan Singh Sher Khan attended as special guests. Principal Pawanpreet Kaur welcomed the dignitaries with bouquets. During the opening, Arora and Dr. Singh encouraged students, teachers, coaches, and parents, emphasizing discipline and teamwork. They also highlighted Bazidpur’s historic significance linked to Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj and martyrs Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, and the heroes of Saragarhi.
Tournament in-charge and DM Sports Akash Kumar shared that 27 matches took place on the opening day across two grounds. Students impressed the audience with a welcome song, followed by an energetic Gatka performance. Stage coordination by Jaswinder Singh, History Lecturer, ensured smooth proceedings.
The championship attracted a large crowd, including local leaders, retired principals, coaches, and village residents. They cheered the young players, highlighting the value of sports in shaping confidence, teamwork, and leadership among students. Organizers praised the efforts of schools and teachers for preparing students for a competitive yet friendly environment.
