Seven labourers from Bihar, who were held captive and forced to work in Assam, have finally been rescued safely. All the workers had travelled from different villages of Saran district in search of employment to a chimney kiln located in the Margherita police station area of Assam. Upon arrival, the kiln owner confiscated their mobile phones and began forcing them to work. When they resisted, they were assaulted.
The case came to light when the labourers’ families filed a complaint through the village panchayat head to the district administration and the Labour Resources Department. After confirming the allegations, the Saran Labour Superintendent immediately sought action from senior officials. A joint operation by the Bihar Labour Resources Department and the Assam administration led to the successful rescue of all seven workers. Officials confirmed that all labourers have safely returned home, and legal action has been initiated against the kiln owner.
