911 Call Released in Florida Child Death Case

911

Authorities in Miami-Dade County have released a 911 call linked to the death of four-year-old Aria Talathi. Her mother, Dr Neha Gupta, an Oklahoma-based paediatrician, faces charges of murder.

In the June 2025 call, Gupta told dispatchers her daughter fell into a pool at a short-term rental home. “She was in the pool, I tried to save her, but I don’t know how to swim,” she said. She claimed they were alone in the house and that she heard a noise before finding the child in the water.

The dispatcher urged Gupta to pull her daughter out. Gupta repeatedly asked when paramedics would arrive. Officers soon reached the property and removed the child from the pool.

Gupta later told paramedics she did not know how long Aria had been in the water. She estimated about 20 minutes. However, an autopsy found no water in the child’s lungs or stomach. Investigators concluded the girl was dead before she entered the pool. They believe she was smothered.

Gupta was arrested and remains in jail without bond. She denies wrongdoing and maintains the death was accidental. Aria’s father had sought full custody before the trip and told police he did not know his daughter had travelled to Florida.
