MEA Secretary P Kumaran stresses the need for sustainable energy policies at East Asia Summit Knowledge Exchange Workshop in Rajgir.

P Kumaran, Secretary (East) at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), delivered the keynote address at the joint inauguration of the East Asia Summit Knowledge Exchange Workshop on Energy Efficiency Policies and Mission LiFE at Nalanda University, Rajgir, Bihar, on Thursday. The workshop aimed to strengthen energy-saving behaviors and sustainable consumption patterns among participants.

In his remarks, Kumaran emphasized the importance of promoting sustainable practices to help achieve climate goals, as advocated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that universities play a crucial role in guiding future generations towards a more sustainable future. Kumaran reaffirmed India’s commitment to climate action and Mission LiFE, underlining the significance of individual responsibility in achieving global environmental targets.

Earlier, on September 10, Kumaran expressed India’s constructive support for the preparations of the 20th East Asia Summit at the EAS Prep-SOM meeting in Port Dickson, Malaysia. The East Asia Summit process, which began in 2005, gathers leaders from 18 countries, including India, ASEAN nations, and other major global powers. The summit aims to address regional issues and enhance multilateral cooperation.
