The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has launched a state-wide protest named *“Chalo Medical Colleges”* opposing the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to privatize government medical colleges . The agitation is being organized in front of all medical colleges across the state.
YSRCP leaders have strongly condemned Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s move , accusing him of attempting to commercialize public healthcare at the cost of students and the poor . The party argues that former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy made history by establishing new government medical colleges to expand access to affordable healthcare and medical education , whereas the current government is undoing those gains.
To counter the protests, the ruling coalition has deployed police forces to detain several YSRCP leaders and prevent them from participating in the demonstrations. Party cadres, however, insist that they will continue their resistance, calling Naidu “a destroyer of history” while hailing Jagan’s legacy of strengthening public health infrastructure.
