*Deccan Gold Mines Limited (DGML)* is set to launch gold production at its Jonnagiri project in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. Company MD *Hanumaprasad* announced that the project has secured necessary environmental clearances and production will commence soon after final approval from the state government.
Once operations begin, DGML will become the *first private company in India* to extract gold directly from mines, marking a historic milestone in the country’s mining sector. The Jonnagiri mine is projected to produce between *750 to 1,000 kilograms of gold annually*, boosting domestic gold output and reducing dependency on imports.
Industry experts believe this venture could open the door for further private sector participation in mineral exploration. The project is also expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to the economic development of the Rayalaseema region, traditionally known for its rich mineral resources.
