HDFC Bank has issued a firm clarification after an audio clip went viral on social media. In the clip, a woman was allegedly heard insulting a CRPF jawan during a phone call. Many posts on X (formerly Twitter) claimed she worked with HDFC Bank.

The bank strongly denied this link. “The woman is not our employee. The behaviour in the clip does not reflect our values,” HDFC said in a statement. The bank also stressed that such conduct is unacceptable.

The controversy began when the audio of a loan-related call surfaced online. In the conversation, the woman mocked the jawan’s profession, called him “illiterate,” and questioned his service in the armed forces. She also dared him to act against her while claiming to be from an Armed Forces family.

The remarks triggered widespread anger. Many users demanded strict action and tagged HDFC Bank, which led to the official denial.

Later, another audio clip went viral in which the woman, identified as Anuradha Varma, apologised. She said stress or frustration might have caused her behaviour. “I deeply regret my words. I never wanted to insult our armed forces,” she added.
