Four people lost their lives on Friday night after heavy rains lashed Rayachoti in Annamayya district . The victims were swept away in overflowing drains and floodwaters triggered by the downpour.
YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep shock over the tragedy. Offering condolences, he urged the government to extend support and relief to the bereaved families. “ The incident has deeply disturbed me. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the victims’ families ,” he said.
The deceased were identified as Sheikh Muni, Ilyas, and Ganesh, along with a young girl, Yamini, who went missing last night. Her body was found this morning in a stormwater canal connected to the Mandavya river, two kilometers away from the incident site .
Locals noted that Rayachoti had not witnessed such torrential rains and flooding in the past 30 years , calling the tragedy unprecedented for the region.
