Violence at religious site in Purnia

A major clash broke out after violence at religious site in Purnia on Friday. Miscreants damaged a shrine near Majgama Haat in Baisa police station area, sparking anger among locals. Villagers caught one accused, beat him up, and handed him over to the police. The crowd, however, turned aggressive, blocking the road and burning tires.

Police teams led by senior officers rushed to the spot. They appealed for peace, but the mob refused to calm down. To control the situation, police carried out lathi charge and also fired three rounds in the air. The violence at religious site in Purnia left one person injured, who was admitted to Purnia Medical College for treatment.

Later, police arrested the main accused and also detained 11 others linked to the unrest. Tension rose again when miscreants set a utensils shop on fire near the haat. Police acted quickly, dispersed the mob, and restored order.
