India and Ireland have taken a step forward in strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation. On September 18, 2025, Ambassador of India to Ireland Akhilesh Mishra met John Lahart, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, at the Irish Parliament.The meeting focused on expanding bilateral ties and exploring new areas of collaboration. The Indian Embassy in Ireland posted about the engagement, highlighting discussions on trade and diplomatic coordination.
Lahart spoke warmly about the Indian community in Ireland, particularly professionals living in his constituency. He said that as Chairman of the Committee, he prioritizes stronger relations with India and stands ready to provide any assistance.Ambassador Mishra expressed gratitude for Ireland’s support and praised the Irish government’s strong condemnation of recent attacks on Indians. He said these statements provided reassurance to the community in Ireland and to their families in India.
Both sides also discussed growing bilateral trade and multi-sectoral engagement. Mishra noted the close cooperation between the Indian Embassy in Dublin and the Irish Embassy in New Delhi.The meeting concluded with an agreement to deepen cooperation and continue consultations on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
