Prashant Kishor shell companies row: Bihar BJP alleges ₹370 cr

Prashant Kishor during Jan Suraaj meeting

The Bihar BJP on Saturday (September 21, 2025) launched a strong attack on Prashant Kishor. Leaders accused him of running a network of shell companies to fund his Jan Suraaj political project. They called his outfit “a startup built on fraud” and questioned the flow of huge money into the party.

BJP’s state media in-charge Danish Iqbal alleged that Kishor received more than ₹370 crore from West Bengal. He linked the money to Kishor’s earlier work for Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress during the 2021 assembly elections. Iqbal added that funds also came from Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The party claimed these transactions expose how Kishor is building his political base.

Leaders demanded that Kishor explain the source of this money. They asked why a new party needs such large funds and whether corporate or political interests are backing him. BJP leaders argued that this pattern of funding shows a deliberate attempt to influence Bihar politics with outside money.

The attack followed Kishor’s sharp comments against Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. Kishor had questioned the deputy CM’s academic credentials. The BJP responded by calling Kishor’s politics “dishonest” and his financial methods “suspicious.”

The controversy has triggered a heated war of words in Bihar. Supporters of Kishor argue that the BJP is trying to divert attention from local governance issues. His Jan Suraaj team has not yet given a detailed reply but hinted that the charges are politically motivated.

Observers believe the clash may intensify as elections approach. BJP leaders see Kishor as a rising challenger with resources and ground support. On the other hand, Kishor is using the attacks to portray himself as a leader unafraid of questioning established parties.
