The BJP has started a week-long campaign called the ‘GST Savings Festival’ to highlight new GST benefits. MPs and party workers will visit local markets across their constituencies until September 29. They will inform citizens about reduced GST rates and promote affordable products.
The initiative coincides with GST 2.0, which introduces a two-slab tax system. GST on over 375 daily-use items has been cut. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the campaign as a “festival of savings” for all Indians.
During the campaign, MPs and party workers will conduct daily padyatras in selected markets. They will greet shopkeepers with flowers and distribute placards promoting Swadeshi and Made-in-India products. The campaign also emphasizes supporting local businesses.
The outreach aims to help the poor, middle class, MSMEs, women, and youth by lowering household expenses. MPs will submit daily reports of their activities to central and state offices. The new GST rates will simplify compliance for businesses and make essential items more affordable nationwide.
