Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on Indian citizens to make every household a symbol of Made-in-India strength. Speaking nationally, he urged people to consciously choose local products and embrace the swadeshi spirit. “The comb in your pocket — is it made in India? We must prioritize local goods,” he said.

Modi asked state governments to support domestic manufacturing and attract investments. He highlighted the importance of MSMEs, saying they played a crucial role in India’s economic growth during its golden years and can drive the country’s self-reliance today.

He encouraged businesses to aim for globally competitive quality and innovation. Modi linked this vision with economic reforms, particularly the GST overhaul, which simplifies taxes to just two rates — 5% and 18%. He said the changes would help shopkeepers pass on benefits to consumers and save citizens around Rs 2.5 lakh crore this year.

Framing Atmanirbharta (self-reliance) as essential to building a Viksit Bharat, Modi called for ramping up production of goods India can fully make. He emphasized that adopting swadeshi is both a patriotic and economic choice, ensuring stronger, self-reliant households and a more resilient economy.
