Bengaluru Pothole Issue Exaggerated Says Shivakumar, as the Deputy Chief Minister defended the city’s road condition. On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, he said the problem is blown out of proportion compared to other major cities.
Shivakumar pointed out that potholes also exist in the national capital. He mentioned his recent trip to Delhi and claimed that even the road leading to the Prime Minister’s residence has potholes. “The media should review Delhi’s roads before exaggerating Bengaluru’s pothole problem,” he stated.
The Deputy CM also highlighted government efforts to address the issue. He said the civic bodies fill nearly 200 potholes daily in each of the five corporations. This amounts to almost 1,000 repairs every day. According to him, the drive shows the administration’s commitment to improving road quality.
He admitted that potholes remain a concern but stressed that Bengaluru is not the only city with this challenge. Bengaluru Pothole Issue Exaggerated Says Shivakumar again underlines the State’s view that comparisons must remain fair before criticism.
His remarks have sparked a debate, with many asking if comparing Bengaluru with Delhi reduces the urgency of fixing the problem.
