The Telangana government is set to issue a Government Order (GO) implementing 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in the upcoming local body elections. This move aims to ensure adequate representation for BC communities across municipalities and panchayats.
Ahead of the GO release, collectors will meet with representatives of all political parties on September 27 to explain the details of the reservation policy. Following these consultations, the government plans to officially release the GO and submit it to the State Election Commission on September 28.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the election schedule on September 29, enabling smooth conduct of local elections with the updated reservation framework. This step is part of broader efforts to strengthen social equity and representation in Telangana’s local governance.
