President Murmu visits Mathura aboard Maharaja Express

President Murmu visits Mathura aboard Maharaja Express for a spiritual day-long trip filled with prayers and cultural engagements. She arrived at Vrindavan Road railway station on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 10 a.m. aboard the luxury Maharaja Express, which featured a Presidential suite, deluxe cabins, restaurants, and lounges for her staff.

During her visit, President Droupadi Murmu will offer prayers at Shri Banke Bihari Temple, Nidhivan, Kubja Krishna Mandir, and Shri Krishna Janmsthan in Mathura. She will also visit Sudama Kuti in Vrindavan. These sites hold deep spiritual significance for devotees of Lord Krishna, making her visit both religious and symbolic. A special maha aarti at the 500-year-old Kubja Krishna Temple will include prayers for world peace and for the health of critically ill patients.

The President’s office stated that her itinerary reflects her commitment to connecting with India’s cultural heritage. District officials welcomed her with traditional honors. Minister for Sugarcane Development Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, Mayor Vinod Kumar Agarwal, and senior officers of the administration and police greeted her upon arrival.

Security arrangements in Mathura were unprecedented. Over 4,000 police personnel, including Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) companies, ATS commandos, and central security agencies, were deployed. Authorities enforced a strict no-fly zone, monitored social media for suspicious activities, and diverted traffic along the presidential convoy routes. Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, restricting large gatherings, also remained in force to ensure smooth movement.

President Murmu visits Mathura aboard Maharaja Express with her journey concluding in the evening. The luxury train will depart from Mathura Junction for Delhi after her temple visits and cultural programs end. Her trip underscores the importance of Mathura and Vrindavan as timeless centers of devotion and spirituality.
