India has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming two-Test series against the West Indies. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the list on Friday.
Shubman Gill will lead the team as captain, while Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named vice-captain. This series marks an important step for Gill, who gets his first major opportunity to guide the side in a full Test series.
The matches will be played in early October. The first Test is scheduled from October 2 to 6, followed by the second Test from October 10 to 14. Both games will be hosted in the West Indies.
The selected squad includes a mix of experienced players and fresh faces. Alongside Gill and Gaikwad, the squad features Rahul, Sundar, Sudharsan, Padikkal, Jurel, Bumrah, Axar Patel, Mukesh Kumar, Jadhav, Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Kuldeep Yadav. The selectors have tried to strike a balance between batting strength and bowling depth.
This tour will be a key challenge for India as it looks to build momentum in the new World Test Championship cycle. Fans are eager to see how Gill’s leadership shapes the team’s performance on foreign soil.
