The Patna High Court has dealt a major blow to RJD MLA Reetlal Yadav. The court quashed his acquittal in the Satyanarayan Sinha murder case and ordered a retrial. This case, which dates back to 2003, has been one of Bihar’s most high-profile trials.
In 2023, a special MP-MLA court had acquitted Yadav and others due to lack of evidence. However, Asha Sinha, wife of slain BJP leader Satyanarayan Sinha, challenged the order in the High Court. Earlier this year, notices were issued to all accused, and now the acquittal has been struck down.
The case began after Satyanarayan Sinha was shot dead near Jamaluddin Chak in Khagaul on April 30, 2003, the same day the RJD held a massive rally at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan. Yadav was charged along with several others.
With the Patna High Court’s latest order, the case will once again be heard in detail, keeping the political spotlight firmly on Bihar.
