Global Workforce a Must in New World, Says Jaishankar

global workforce reality

India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, has said that the world needs a global workforce now more than ever. He explained that many countries cannot meet their workforce demands due to shrinking populations and changing demographics.

Speaking at a UN event hosted by the Observer Research Foundation, Jaishankar pointed to strict immigration policies in the U.S. These include the high cost of H-1B visas, which affects many skilled Indian workers.

He stressed that this is not just a political issue. “You can’t escape this reality,” he said. The world must move to a better, shared model where skilled workers are based across different countries.

According to Jaishankar, this global shift will bring new trade deals and unexpected partnerships. Countries will work together more often, even if they haven’t in the past.

He also noted that technology, trade, and work patterns are changing fast. “We’re heading into a very different world, and it will happen quickly,” he said.
