The Andhra Pradesh Assembly has approved five important bills amending the Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats (MNP) Act, introduced by Minister Narayana. The legislation includes the repeal of the Nala Act, replacing it with provisions to collect additional development charges to fund infrastructure projects.
The amendments also allow multi-storey buildings to reach a height of up to 24 meters, facilitating urban development and modernization. Additionally, buildings that were constructed in violation of existing rules will now be regularized under the new provisions, providing relief to many property owners. Another key decision approved by the Assembly is the renaming of YSR Tadigadapa Municipality to Tadigadapa Municipality, reflecting administrative updates.
These measures aim to streamline municipal governance, encourage planned urban growth, and ensure compliance with development regulations while supporting residents’ needs. The bills mark a significant step in shaping Andhra Pradesh’s urban planning and infrastructure framework.
