Suryakumar: Arshdeep My Choice for Super Over

Suryakumar: Felt Like Final, Arshdeep My Choice

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said the Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup “felt like a final”. He praised left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh as his clear choice for the Super Over, citing his proven ability in pressure situations.

Arshdeep bowled a superb 19th over during regulation play and then took two wickets in the Super Over, restricting Sri Lanka to just two runs. Suryakumar finished the chase with a single ball to secure India’s sixth consecutive win in the tournament.

“It felt like a final. I told the boys to play it like a semi-final,” Yadav said. “We wanted energy and clarity. Arshdeep has been in such situations many times. His confidence says it all.”

He lauded the batting performance, noting Abhishek Sharma (61), Tilak Varma (49 not out), and Sanju Samson (39) for their contributions. “Sanju and Tilak took responsibility well. They maintained the tempo,” Yadav said.

Looking ahead to the final against Pakistan, Yadav said: “Let’s recover well and be ready. Today was about clarity and execution. We achieved that and deserve to be in the final.”
