A political blame game has erupted following the Karur stampede that left several dead and many injured. The DMK has accused actor-turned-politician Vijay of arriving late to the public meeting, claiming his delay triggered panic among the massive crowd. However, Vijay’s party TVK countered these allegations, stating that they initially sought permission for a larger venue but were forced to hold the event in a narrow space.
According to TVK, Vijay requested that the crowd make way for ambulances passing through the meeting area, which inadvertently led to the chaos. The party further alleged a police–DMK conspiracy, claiming that the ambulances were deliberately routed through the gathering to create confusion.
The conflicting claims have intensified political tensions in Tamil Nadu, even as authorities continue their investigation to determine the exact cause of the tragedy and ensure accountability for the devastating incident.
