Delhi CM Rekha Gupta launches 300 e-buses

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta launches 300 e-buses for trans-Yamuna connectivity, marking a major step towards sustainable public transport. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta launches 300 e-buses during a ceremony in East Vinod Nagar on Sunday (September 28, 2025), unveiling the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) fleet.

The launch aims to improve public transport and ease congestion in trans-Yamuna areas. CM Gupta also inaugurated a six-lane flyover between Nand Nagri and Gagan Cinema to further enhance traffic flow. “The routes of these 300 buses have been rationalised to ensure they actually reach people in trans-Yamuna areas,” she said. “The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi designed these routes based on passenger demand.”

Transport Minister added that the government plans to make the entire public transport fleet electric within the next 18 months. “A detailed study is underway to expand the bus network across Delhi,” he said. These steps are part of a broader strategy to reduce pollution and improve commuting efficiency in the capital.

The e-bus fleet will connect border areas and key transport hubs in east Delhi, improving last-mile connectivity. This initiative will significantly reduce Delhi’s carbon footprint, aligning with national targets for green mobility.

The government also announced plans to install advanced charging stations across the city. Experts say the move will encourage adoption of electric vehicles and set a precedent for other Indian cities. For commuters, these changes promise cleaner, faster, and more reliable transport.
