BJP Leads in Consistently Held Assembly Seats

Bihar elections BJP consistent seats

In Bihar elections, only 13 assembly seats have been held continuously by the same parties in six elections from 2000 to 2020. The key phrase Bihar elections highlights the trend of consistent wins. Out of these 13, BJP dominates with nine seats, while JDU and RJD hold two each.

BJP’s stronghold includes seats like Ramnagar, Patna Sahib, and Gaya Town. JDU holds Supaul and Alamnagar, while RJD had Darbhanga Rural and Belaganj, though the latter slipped in a by-election. Since the division of Bihar in 2005, BJP has maintained the highest number of continuous seats, showing its deep grassroots presence.

Interestingly, RJD has never contested on several seats such as Ramnagar, Bettiah, and Kumhrar. At the same time, NDA parties have scored multiple hat-tricks of wins, especially BJP with 36 repeat victories since 2010. Despite its large base, RJD has yet to win 56 seats in the state.

The numbers clearly show that in Bihar elections, BJP remains the front-runner in holding consistent seats, with JDU and RJD trailing behind.
