The Karur stampede at actor-politician Vijay’s rally shocked Tamil Nadu and left 41 people dead. The tragedy has now forced the state government to act quickly. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that his government will frame rules and guidelines for public events organised by political parties and other organisations.

Stalin explained that the government will wait for the Justice Aruna Jagadeesan Commission of Inquiry to submit its report. After receiving the findings, the state will hold consultations with political parties, social groups, and cultural organisations. These discussions will help create a comprehensive framework to make events safer.

The Chief Minister said the Karur stampede showed the urgent need for crowd control protocols. According to him, the new rules will likely cover venue capacity, emergency planning, and clear accountability for organisers. With stronger safety measures, Tamil Nadu hopes to prevent such disasters in the future.

At the same time, Stalin appealed to the public to behave responsibly on social media. He asked people to avoid malicious or insensitive comments about the Karur stampede. False information and political attacks, he said, only add to the pain of grieving families. Instead, he called for unity and compassion.

Political leaders across parties welcomed the announcement. Civil society groups also said Tamil Nadu urgently needs event safety rules. As a result, the government’s decision is widely seen as an important step forward. With proper planning, public gatherings can remain vibrant while keeping people safe.
