Starting today, bus fares in Hyderabad will see a significant hike, affecting daily commuters across the city. Ordinary ₹10 tickets have been increased to ₹15, and an additional ₹10 will be charged for passengers traveling beyond four stages. This fare revision applies to all ordinary and Metro buses in the city.

The government had planned to operate electric buses in Hyderabad over the past two years, but only 25 depots are currently functional, with 10 more proposed. RTC had suggested an investment of ₹392 crore for a charging infrastructure to support 3,300 EV buses, but due to lack of government approval, the burden has shifted to passengers.

Meanwhile, diesel buses are being diverted to Outer Ring Road (ORR) routes, further impacting regular city commuters. The fare hike has sparked concern among citizens, who now face increased transportation costs amid limited alternatives.
