The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged Rahul Sarkar as the 22nd accused in the 2022 Lawrence Bishnoi gang and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror case. The case, RC-39/2022/NIA/DLI, involves a conspiracy to spread terrorism across India.
Authorities allege Sarkar helped gang members carry out terror activities and flee the country. He reportedly arranged forged Aadhaar cards, Voter IDs, and bank passbooks. The fake documents also helped co-accused Sachin Bishnoi obtain passports fraudulently.
So far, the NIA has arrested 18 accused, while four remain absconding. Delhi Police Special Cell registered the case on August 4, 2022, and the NIA took over on August 26. Investigators continue to probe the terror-gangster nexus to prevent future threats.
Recently, the NIA charged four people in a grenade attack at former Punjab Minister Manoranjan Kalia’s residence. The attack occurred on April 7 in Jalandhar. Authorities said Babbar Khalsa operative Kulbir Singh and his associate Manish, also known as Kaka Rana, planned the attack. The accused face charges under the UA(P) Act, BNS, and Explosive Substances Act.
