India Slams Pakistan at UNSC

India strongly criticised Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Tuesday, calling it a country that “bombs its own people.” India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, made the remarks during the Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security.

Harish said Pakistan carries out systematic genocide while trying to distract the world with “misdirection and hyperbole.” His comments came after a Pakistani official accused India of subjecting Kashmiri women to decades of sexual violence.

“Every year we are forced to listen to Pakistan’s delusional tirade against my country, especially on Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian territory they covet,” Harish said. He added that India’s record on women, peace, and security remains strong and unblemished.

The envoy reminded the UNSC of Pakistan’s past actions, including Operation Searchlight in 1971, where its army sanctioned mass rape of 400,000 women. “The world sees through Pakistan’s propaganda,” Harish asserted.

Just last week, India had also slammed Pakistan at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Indian Counsellor KS Mohammed Hussain called it “deeply ironic” that a country with one of the worst human rights records tries to lecture others, instead of addressing its own persecution of minorities.
