Visakhapatnam: Former minister Gudivada Amarnath criticized Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner for his comments regarding YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s North Andhra tour, questioning whether the CP was unaware that Jagan has Z-Plus security. Addressing the media, Amarnath thanked party workers for making Jagan’s tour a success and said police imposed unnecessary restrictions to prevent public participation.

Despite the curbs, he noted that thousands turned up to meet Jagan. Amarnath asserted that the CP, being a senior IPS officer, should speak respectfully and withdraw his remarks referring to Jagan as merely an MLA.

He questioned, “If he’s just an MLA, why were 3,000 police personnel deployed for security?” Amarnath also reiterated Jagan’s stance against medical college privatization and Visakhapatnam Steel Plant privatization, and highlighted his compassionate outreach to farmers, traders, and factory workers during the tour.
