Modi Congratulates Netanyahu on Gaza Ceasefire Under Trump’s Peace Plan

Modi Netanyahu Gaza ceasefire

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stopped a cabinet meeting to speak with Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Israel approved a ceasefire and hostage release deal under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza Peace Plan, The Times of Israel reported.

During their call, Modi congratulated Netanyahu on the progress and the deal to free all hostages. In a post on X, he said India welcomes the agreement and the added humanitarian aid for Gaza. Modi also repeated that terrorism is unacceptable anywhere.

Israel’s government later voted for the ceasefire, starting the first phase of Trump’s plan. This phase includes the release of hostages and Israel’s partial withdrawal from Gaza, according to Al Jazeera.

US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, joined the meeting in Jerusalem where the deal was approved. Hamas negotiator Khalil al-Hayya said the agreement means the war in Gaza has “ended completely.”

Announcing the breakthrough, Trump said the deal ends the Gaza war and ensures the release of all hostages. He called it a “major step” toward lasting peace in the Middle East.
