A tragic boat accident in Aurangabad, Bihar claimed several lives on Friday. Seventeen villagers were crossing the Son River to reach their farmland when their boat capsized due to strong currents. Eleven people were rescued safely, but six were swept away. Bodies of two young women—Tamanna Parveen (21) and Kajal alias Chhoti Kumari—were found, while the search continues for four missing women.
The victims were from Badem village under Navinagar block. They were daily laborers and farmers heading to fields across the river. SDRF and NDRF teams are working to recover the remaining missing persons. Local divers and villagers joined rescue efforts as panic spread throughout the area.
Officials say the boat was overloaded and the river was in full spate, causing it to overturn suddenly. People in the Son River basin often use small boats daily for farming, despite the risks during high water flow.
