Tiger Woods Undergoes Successful Disc Replacement Surgery

Tiger Woods underwent successful lumbar disc replacement surgery after back pain and limited mobility in New York.

Tiger Woods, 15-time major champion, underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery after experiencing pain and limited mobility. The procedure was successful.

Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi and his team at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery performed the operation. Woods said the scans revealed a collapsed disc, disc fragments, and a compromised spinal canal. He stated the decision was right for his health and back.

This marks Woods’ second back surgery in just over a year. In September 2024, he had a microdecompression surgery for a nerve impingement in his lumbar spine. Earlier, in March, Woods had a successful Achilles tendon repair after rupturing his left Achilles.

The 50-year-old golfer has not played a PGA Tour event since 2023. He skipped the 2025 Genesis Invitational due to personal reasons and will not participate in the World Challenge in December. Woods previously played the 2024 PNC Championship alongside his son Charlie, using a cart.
