Andhra Pradesh Minister Nadendla Manohar has launched innovative rapid testing kits designed to identify Public Distribution System (PDS) rice. Speaking at the event, he stated that these kits will play a crucial role in detecting and preventing the illegal transportation of ration rice. The initiative aims to curb large-scale smuggling and ensure that subsidized rice reaches genuine beneficiaries.
The minister revealed that since the formation of the coalition government, authorities have already seized around 5.65 lakh quintals of illegally transported rice. He further warned that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in such illegal activities, including officials from the vigilance department if found complicit.
The introduction of rapid kits marks a significant step toward ensuring transparency, strengthening food security measures, and protecting the integrity of the state’s ration distribution system.
