The Telangana government is actively exploring the establishment of a new Greenfield airport to enhance regional air connectivity. Initially, Basanthnagar in Peddapalli district was chosen for the project, but it was later found unsuitable due to technical and environmental constraints. As an alternative, the government is now considering Anthargaon as a potential site for the new airport.

To proceed with the evaluation, the state has decided to pay the required fee to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for preparing a Techno-Economic Feasibility Report (TEFR). Meanwhile, the government has already finalized the airport project at Mamnoor in Warangal and is also assessing the feasibility of airports in Kothagudem, Adilabad, Mahabubnagar, and Nizamabad.

This initiative aims to improve connectivity across Telangana, boost tourism, and attract investments by ensuring better access to remote and developing regions of the state.
