Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has released ₹185.02 crore in subsidy to 40,795 farmers who sold Totapuri mangoes during the last marketing season. The funds were directly credited into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts as part of the state’s farmer welfare initiative aimed at supporting horticulture growers affected by market fluctuations.
In addition, the government released ex-gratia compensation under the Group Accident Insurance Scheme for the families of fishermen who died in accidents. A total of ₹5.30 crore was transferred to 106 families across 19 districts, with each receiving ₹5 lakh.
Officials said the government remains committed to protecting the interests of farmers and fishermen through timely financial aid and welfare measures, ensuring that both sectors remain stable and sustainable amid rising challenges in production and marketing.
