Shehbaz Sharif Praises Donald Trump

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif turned the Gaza Summit in Egypt into a glowing tribute to US President Donald Trump. In his speech, Sharif called Trump a “man of peace” and thanked him for “stopping the India-Pak war.” He even said he would again nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for “saving millions of lives in South Asia and the Middle East.”

Trump smiled and replied, “Wow! I didn’t expect that.” While the US leader enjoyed the praise, many social media users criticised Sharif for his excessive flattery.

Pakistani historian Ammar Ali Jan called the speech “embarrassing for Pakistanis worldwide.” Columnist SL Kanthan mocked Sharif, saying, “Whenever Trump wants his shoes shined, he invites Pakistan’s tiny Prime Minister.” Others on social media accused Sharif of humiliating Pakistan for foreign approval.

Speaking at Sharm el-Sheikh, Sharif also credited Trump for brokering peace between Israel and Hamas. He said the US President’s “tireless efforts” prevented a deadly war between India and Pakistan. Sharif insisted that Trump truly “deserves global recognition for promoting peace.
