Delhi Air Quality Worsens: Anand Vihar Records Most Toxic Air
On October 16, 2025, several parts of Delhi logged ‘very poor’ air quality levels, with Anand Vihar emerging as the most polluted area in the city. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the region crossed the 350 mark, indicating hazardous conditions for residents, especially those with respiratory issues. Other hotspots like Jahangirpuri, Wazirpur, and Rohini also recorded AQI levels in the ‘very poor’ category, as pollution from stubble burning, vehicular emissions, and construction dust continue to choke the capital.
Smog continued to blanket parts of Delhi-NCR through the morning, reducing visibility and triggering health advisories. Authorities have urged residents to avoid outdoor activity, especially children and the elderly, and to use N95 masks when stepping out. The Delhi government is expected to review emergency pollution-control measures, including restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), to manage the worsening air quality.
