Telangana IPS Batch Sets Record for Women Representation
Telangana’s latest IPS cohort marks a significant step toward gender inclusivity, with a record 35.63% women officers — the highest in the past five years. The new batch, graduating from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, reflects changing dynamics in police leadership across the country.
Officials noted that this year’s group not only includes more women but also individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, including law, engineering, and finance, highlighting a broader shift in career aspirations toward public service. Senior officers at the convocation praised the recruits’ commitment and urged them to uphold integrity and inclusiveness in their roles.
The rising representation of women is being seen as a positive development for policing in India, with expectations that it will bring more empathy, community engagement, and balance in law enforcement. Telangana continues to lead by example in promoting diversity in its administrative ranks.
