Govt Employees Shouldn’t Have RSS Links, Says Priyank Kharge
Karnataka Minister for IT/BT and Rural Development, Priyank Kharge, has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to initiate disciplinary action against government officials allegedly associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In a letter addressed to the CM, Kharge requested that a formal circular be issued, clearly stating that no government employee should maintain links with the RSS or participate in its activities.
Kharge argued that such affiliations compromise the neutrality expected of public servants and could influence administrative decisions. He emphasized that while personal beliefs are private, active participation in ideological organizations violates service conduct rules.
The request has sparked political debate, with opposition leaders accusing the Congress government of targeting a nationalist organization. However, Kharge maintained that the move is not politically motivated but aims to uphold constitutional values and institutional impartiality within the bureaucracy.
