Air India Crash: Pilot’s Father, Federation Seek Judicial Probe in SC
The father of the deceased Air India Express pilot, who died in the Ahmedabad crash, along with the Federation of Indian Pilots, has moved the Supreme Court seeking a judicial inquiry. The petition, filed on October 10 through AP&J Chambers, demands a “fair, transparent, and technically robust” investigation into the incident. They argue that only a court-monitored probe can ensure accountability and prevent future tragedies. The plea highlights concerns over the existing probe’s impartiality, given the potential conflict of interest with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) leading the investigation. The Federation, representing hundreds of commercial pilots, has emphasized the need for aviation safety reforms. The petition is expected to be heard after the Deepavali vacation. The move marks a significant step towards ensuring justice for the deceased crew and restoring public confidence in air safety mechanisms in India.
