Government Warns PHC Doctors to End Strike or Face Action

The Andhra Pradesh Health Department has issued a stern warning to Primary Health Centre (PHC) doctors, directing them to call off their ongoing strike or face strict disciplinary action. The doctors have been protesting since September 30, demanding the restoration of the in-service PG quota along with resolution of other long-pending issues.

Despite several rounds of talks with senior officials, the negotiations have failed to yield results. The government had earlier cautioned the striking doctors that it may invoke the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA), but the medics have continued their agitation.

In a fresh escalation, the department has now issued Notice-3, signaling the final warning before initiating legal or administrative measures. All eyes are now on how the PHC doctors’ association responds to the ultimatum.
