India’s Semi-Final Hopes Hang by a Thread in the Women’s World Cup

India’s path to the Women’s World Cup (WWC) semi-finals has become complicated. To qualify directly, India must win both of its remaining matches — against New Zealand and Bangladesh. However, if India loses to New Zealand, the scenario becomes risky: India would then have to beat Bangladesh at any cost, and also hope New Zealand lose their final match against England. Only then would India stand a chance of entering the semi-finals as the fourth team.

Currently, India and New Zealand are tied at 4 points each, fighting head-to-head for the last semi-final spot. Meanwhile, Australia, South Africa, and England have already secured their places in the semi-finals.

For India, it is simple now — win to stay alive, lose and go home. The upcoming matches will decide whether the Indian team marches to the knockouts or faces early exit.
