Land Ownership Decided in Courts, Not by Swords

Land ownership decided in courts, not by swords

The Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled that land ownership decided in courts, not by swords or violence in fields. Justice Namit Kumar said that when someone takes justice into their own hands, they stop seeking it.

The court rejected a bail plea from a man accused of attacking others to grab land. Justice Kumar said such acts weaken law and public trust. He warned that violence over land disputes cannot be allowed in Punjab, where farming is common and land is valuable.

The accused bought the disputed land only weeks before a stay order was denied and then used weapons instead of going to court. The judge said this “film-style” attack shows disregard for justice.

The court made it clear: land ownership decided in courts, not by swords, and anyone who tries violence will face strict punishment.
