Cyclone Montha Set to Hit Andhra Coast Tonight Odisha, Andhra on High Alert

Cyclone Montha has strengthened over the Bay of Bengal and is expected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast near Kakinada by the night of October 28 as a severe cyclonic storm with winds up to 110 km/hr.
Both Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are on high alert. Coastal districts have begun evacuations, schools are closed, and fishing operations are suspended. In Odisha, eight southern districts are under a red warning, shelters are activated, and fishermen are advised to stay ashore.
Heavy to very heavy rain is expected on October 28–29, with storm surges up to one metre likely in low-lying coastal areas. Authorities are working to ensure zero casualties as the system nears.
Residents are urged to remain indoors, avoid coastal areas, and follow official updates from the Indian Meteorological Department and local authorities for safety information.
