A tragic incident took place in Shivnandanpur village, Samastipur district, where a farmer was shot dead in Samastipur on Monday evening. According to reports, 45-year-old Mantu (or Mintu) Chaudhary was walking near his doorstep when bike-borne miscreants opened fire at him. The farmer was shot dead in Samastipur after receiving five bullet wounds.
Villagers said the attackers fired indiscriminately, hitting him in the neck and stomach. Police soon arrived at the scene after being alerted by locals. One of the shooters was caught in an injured condition and taken into custody, while another escaped.
The police also found the suspects’ motorcycle near the spot. Mantu Chaudhary was rushed to Sadar Hospital but died during treatment. The reason for the attack is still unclear.
The entire village is mourning his death, and authorities have launched a detailed investigation to find the remaining suspects.
