The Andhra Pradesh government is moving to grant ownership rights to around 45 lakh properties by March next year. Under the Swamitva Scheme, property owners will receive official property cards after completion of land surveys. According to officials, the survey process is expected to be completed by December this year.
The coalition government has already engaged staff from village secretariats in this mission. Using drone technology, data from nearly 6,000 villages are being collected for 45 lakh properties. The information will be converted into Ortho Rectified Images for precise property parcel mapping, showing each plot’s length and width. Revenue and Panchayat Raj departments are jointly verifying these measurements. Reports indicate that surveys for over 43 lakh properties are complete.
Once verification is finished, authorities will issue public notices under Section 9(2) to receive objections from citizens. After resolving objections, final ownership records will be announced under Section 13. The verified owners’ lists will be displayed at village secretariats and panchayat offices.
Any required modifications will be made under the supervision of the MRO. The second phase of this massive initiative will begin after March 2026.
